You didn't think there was much nature here, right? Unfortunately you're not alone. New York Harbor is a busy, bustling, and built-up environment in one of the most man-made and urban coastlines in the world. Yet, not far from all the bulkheads, rip-rap, sidewalks, skyscrapers, and miles of railways, roadways and manicured lawns is a rich diversity of wildlife. Reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, marine mammals, and a wide assortment of other surprising creatures call this place home for all or part of the year. Pick a season and one can find many animals either migrating, feeding, spawning, or nesting far and wide. All of nature is on the move and erupting with life. Join me as I try to capture some of the great natural wonders in New York Harbor throughout the seasons.
